Roles & Permissions in IMG Alt Gen Pro

Access levels

IMG Alt Gen defines four access levels:

  1. Full Access
    • Can open all plugin pages:
      • Account & Tokens
      • Settings
      • Bulk Process
      • Usage History
      • Help & Documentation
    • Can change role access mappings.
    • Intended for site owners and lead developers.
  2. Partial Access
    • Can access:
      • Bulk Process Images
      • Media Library & Gutenberg tools
      • Help & Documentation
    • Cannot access Settings or Account & Tokens pages.
    • Ideal for SEO managers or accessibility leads who should bulk-fix images but not touch billing.
  3. Generate Only
    • Sees:
      • Per-image “Generate Alt Text” actions in the Media Library.
      • The Gutenberg Image block button.
      • Help & Documentation.
    • Does not see Bulk, Settings, Account & Tokens or Usage History.
    • Good for editors and authors.
  4. No Access
    • Sees none of the IMG Alt Gen UI.
    • Best for roles that should not interact with images at all.

Mapping WordPress roles to access levels

In IMG Alt Gen → Settings → Role Access, you can:

  • See a table of all editable WordPress roles.
  • Assign each role one of:
    • Full
    • Partial
    • Generate
    • None

Admins (users with manage_options) always have at least Full access, regardless of the mapping, to prevent lockouts.
