Tokens, Billing & Account Management

Token basics

  • 1 token = 1 image processed
Each successful image processed by the AI consumes one token.
  • Account-level balance
Tokens live in your IMG Alt Gen account, not per site.
    • You can link multiple WordPress sites to the same account.
    • All sites draw from the same pool.
  • When tokens run out
    • The plugin stops sending new images to the service.
    • Existing alt text is never changed or removed.
    • Once you top up tokens, processing resumes automatically.

Buying tokens and viewing invoices

Use the IMG Alt Gen account dashboard on the product site to:

  • Buy token bundles with card payments (via our Stripe integration).
  • See your transaction history.
  • Download invoices / receipts for bookkeeping.
  • Check which WordPress sites are currently linked.

The WordPress Account & Tokens page is for linking a site and seeing a quick summary. The account portal gives full billing and history.

Viewing usage inside WordPress

There are two views:

  1. Quick usage summary panel (optional)
    • Appears on Account & Tokens in WordPress.
    • Shows recent token usage and balance.
    • Can be hidden via the “Hide usage panel” option in Settings.
  2. Usage History page (Full access only)
    • Found under the IMG Alt Gen menu in WordPress.
    • Grouped by date; you can expand each day to see:
      • How many images were processed.
      • Which site or integration triggered them.
    • Filter by common ranges, e.g. last 30 / 90 / 365 days.

If your role does not have access to Usage History, ask someone with Full access to export or screenshot the relevant details.

Managing linked sites

From the account dashboard on the product site you can:

  • See all WordPress sites currently linked to your account.
  • Unlink a site that should no longer have access.
  • Rotate access keys if needed.

From inside WordPress you can:

  • Log out / unlink this specific site from the account.
  • In some cases, request account deletion (with checks to ensure only the actual account owner can do this).
