Getting Started with IMG Alt Gen Pro (WordPress)

Requirements

  • WordPress 5.8+ (or any reasonably recent version).
  • PHP 7.4+.
  • HTTPS enabled on your site.

Step 1 – Install the plugin

  1. Download the IMG Alt Gen Pro plugin .zip.
  2. In your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
  3. Upload the .zip, click Install Now, then Activate.
  4. A new IMG Alt Gen menu will appear in the admin sidebar.

Step 2 – Link your site to an IMG Alt Gen account

  1. In WordPress, go to IMG Alt Gen → Account & Tokens.
  2. Enter the email address you want to use for your IMG Alt Gen account.
  3. Click Link / Relink.
  4. If it’s a new account, you’ll be created on the fly and receive free starter tokens.
    If it’s an existing account, the site will be linked to that account.
  5. You should now see:
    • Your account email.
    • The masked access key.
    • Current token balance and basic usage.

You can manage the account itself (billing, bundles, invoices, connected sites) via the online IMG Alt Gen account dashboard on the product site.


Step 3 – Set basic behaviour

  1. Go to IMG Alt Gen → Settings (Full access required).
  2. Configure the key options:
    • Automatic generation on upload
      Turn this on to automatically queue new images as they are uploaded.
    • Media Library indicators
      Shows status dots for each image (has alt text / missing / pending) and exposes a “Generate Alt Text” action per image.
    • WooCommerce integration
      Includes product title, attributes and short description as context for product images.
    • SEO integration
      Includes focus keyphrase and meta description when a supported SEO plugin is active (Yoast SEO, Rank Math, AIOSEO, SEOPress).
    • Prompt template & batch settings
      • Prompt template controlling the wording style and structure.
      • Batch size per queue run.
      • Optional “max images per bulk run” cap.
    • Default output language
      Choose the language the AI will use for all generated alt text.
    • Role access
      Map WordPress roles to access levels: Full / Partial / Generate / None.
  3. Save changes. Your site is ready to generate AI alt text.
